SUSPECTED BURGLAR ARRESTED

 barnes-a1

After receiving information from a citizen, Deputies from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles BARNES Jr. early this morning.  Following up on this tip, Deputies hit pay dirt. An arrest warrant for BARNES was issued on January 2 after investigators determined he was implicated in at least one south Hunt County burglary.  A Friends of the Sheriff BOLO was sent out, and the homepage of the Friends of the Sheriff website was turned into a virtual “wanted poster”.  Several tips had been received and followed up on.

Shortly after 5:30 am Saturday morning, Deputies arrived at a residence in south Hunt County where BARNES was said to be staying. Parked in the driveway they discovered the vehicle he was reportedly driving earlier that morning. Deputies were given consent to search the residence.  BARNES was discovered hiding inside a bedroom.  He was arrested on the warrant for burglary as well as an outstanding parole warrant. A female was arrested as well and charged with hindering apprehension.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy MEEKS credits this success to everyone who had a part.  “From the Deputy who took the report, to the Investigator who obtained the warrant, to the volunteer who sent out the emails and built the webpage, all the way to the citizen who contacted the Deputy; it takes all of us.  And it all comes back to the fine Deputies who work the street.  They are the hands and feet of this Law Enforcement agency.  They are the ones that took this information and turned it into an arrest.

A second person, Charles MASSEY, of south Hunt County is also being sought in reference to multiple burglary warrants as well as a warrant for evading arrest.  His information as well as a picture remains on the Friends of the Sheriff homepage.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call or email.
